As a 20-year travel industry veteran, Mark has a vast, up-to-the-minute understanding of the trade as a whole and its rapidly changing media landscape. He is the founder and CEO of travAlliancemedia, a cutting edge travel trade media group that publishes two top industry publications, Agent@Home and Vacation Agent magazines as well as TravelPulse.com, the most visited travel trade website in the world.

Murphy has hiked, sailed, climbed, kayaked, Segued and rickshawed his way through more than 50 countries around the world, and brings his extraordinary first-hand experiences to the travel veteran and amateur alike. He reports on exotic, off-the-beaten-path locations, travel deals, breaking news related to the industry, and is a passionate advocate on behalf of the agent industry regarding the advantages of working with a travel professional. Mark is best known for founding travAlliancemedia (formerly Performance Media), a New Jersey-based marketing services company that combines the high powered pressure of a New York City media business with the fun dynamics of a Silicon Valley dotcom start up. He took a major leap of faith in 2002 when, in the aftermath of September 11, he risked it all to launch an Internet business focused on what was then considered a dying breed, the travel agent.

Born in Chicago and raised in Central Jersey, Murphy is a graduate of Lehigh University where he was best known for catching major air on the basketball court. Now he spends most of his time at 32,000 feet. He resides in Moorestown, New Jersey with his wife, two children and two dogs named Beau and Molly.

Currently Mark provides professional commentary for both consumer and business travelers and is a weekly expert guest on major networks and news stations such as The Today Show, CNN, FOX Business, FOX News, and ABC, CBS, and The Travel Channel; he delivers keynotes regularly at various national business, travel and leadership conferences.
